I was over at my parents house tonight. My family was in charge of keeping Harry occupied while I sewed some stuff for Young Womens. Well after I had finished the first value colored pennant that I was making, I was so proud of it, I was going through the house showing everyone :) My dad had gone down the hall and so I proudly walked into their bedroom, pennant in hand, expecting to say "Dad! Looky! Looky!". Instead, I was silent. I walked in to find my dad praying. I smiled, felt warm and fuzzy inside, and quietly walked away. I never did show him my pennant :) But here's what I learned: Pray with the door open.
No matter if you're 5 or 25, a kid needs to see their parents pray. And not just at meals, or in church, or at designated pre-bedtime moments. Always. Spontaneously.
My dad is such a good example to me! His faith strengthens mine. I love him!
So next time you think about shutting the door, going in the bathroom, closet or garage...don't! Kneel down by your bed and pray for the guidance we're all in need of. When your kids walk in expecting to say "Looky! Looky!" they'll instead leave quietly, reminded of your faith and love for Heavenly Father. (but make sure that if you realize they're there, you ask them about their project when you're done!!) :)
